Program Coordinator

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Programming Coordinator at Congregation Ohab Zedek collaborates with the Executive Director, Rabbi, Events Manager, Office Manager, and the Special Events Committee to plan and execute a diverse array of programs aligning with Orthodox Jewish values and interests. This role requires adherence to our synagogue's policies and procedures, fostering a community spirit consistent with our values.

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIP:
The Programming Coordinator reports to Ohab Zedek's Executive Director, working closely with the synagogue's Rabbi, Events Manager, Office Manager, and the Special Events Committee to ensure successful, professional, and well-organized programs. Collaboration with various entities within the synagogue is integral to creating an integrated programmatic calendar.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsibilities include scheduling the events calendar in advance, organizing and executing activities, classes, and events, attending monthly meetings, creating materials in line with Orthodox Jewish aesthetics, coordinating with volunteers, managing space reservations, and liaising with synagogue staff for set-up and IT needs. The Programming Coordinator will also be responsible for security considerations, tracking RSVPs, and managing event costs, including invoicing and reimbursements.

Being a welcoming presence is crucial, and the Programming Coordinator is expected to attend programs when necessary, sometimes held on evenings or weekends, while occasionally serving as an OZ Representative and 'Cheerleader' at community events.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
The ideal candidate possesses excellent organizational and communication skills, collaborating effectively in a dynamic environment. Proficiency in Hebrew is a plus, along with experience in synagogue or Jewish organizational settings. Familiarity with Jewish customs and celebrations is required, and enthusiasm for expanding knowledge about Jewish life is encouraged.

Proficiency with Microsoft Software, Google Drive, Zoom, social media (eg: Facebook/Instagram), and tools like Canva. OZ uses the ShulCloud platform for our website hosting and registration database.

The position requires approximately 15-25 hours per week on average, with a flexible work schedule based on programming needs.
